
Dr.K.L.Rao Krishi Vigyan Kendra, a farm science centre under the administrative control of Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University, Lam, Guntur was established at Garikapadu village, Jaggaiahpet mandal, Krishna District during 2002 and is funded by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is located 12Km away from Jaggaiahpet on NH-65 at 16.530 latitude and 80.060 longitude and an altitude of 84.40 MSL.
Mandate:
- Conducting on/off campus training programmes to the participating farmers (Male and Female), rural youth and Agricultural extension functionaries.
- Conducting Front Line Demonstrations (FLD’s) on pulses, oil seeds and other crops in farmer’s fields with the pre released and released varieties of ANGRAU and ICAR in different crops.
- Conducting on Farm Testing (OFT’s) in farmers fields with latest technologies developed in different crops for location specific problems and technology refinement.
- Production of quality seed/plant material and supply to the farmers.
- Creating awareness in the farming community in latest technology in agriculture and allied sectors by conducting extension activities like training programmes, Kisan Melas and field visits and through print and electronic media etc.
- Creating avenues for rural women and youth through self employment generation programmes.
